Unidentified Suspect Wanted for SDG&E Arson

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the Chula Vista Police Department are asking for assistance from the public to help identify and locate an unknown suspect wanted for arson.

Investigators said on April, 17, 2012, at about 4:24 a.m., a vital cable pole belonging to SDG&E, located west of the I-5 freeway and south of the channel separating Chula Vista from National City, was intentionally set on fire (arson) causing an estimated 1.5 million dollars in damage. The loss of this line reduces SDG&E’s ability to import power by 400 megawatts (MW), which is roughly equivalent to the power needed for 250,000 homes. This matter is under joint investigation by the Chula Vista Police Department, Chula Vista Fire Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms & Explosives (ATF).

Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $15,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to an arrest in this case. Crime Stoppers reward is $1,000, Arson Reward Fund is $9,000, and Sempra Energy is $5,000. On May 12, 2006, Sibyl Robbins and her husband were shot in front of their Encinitas home. Sibyl was killed in the passenger seat of their Volvo. Her husband survived.

The Sheriff’s Department and Sibyl’s family are looking for leads in this case. A reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest of Sibyl’s murderer.

MEMORIAL RIDE PLANNED BY SAN DIEGO HARLEY DAVIDSON

 
San Diego County Crime Stoppers and the San Diego Police Department Homicide Unit continue to look for leads on the three-year anniversary of the unsolved double homicide of Carol and Barry Sandberg.  San Diego Harley Davidson will host a memorial ride and BBQ to bring attention to this unsolved case and honor Barry and Carol.

The riders will gather this Sunday, May 6th at 12 noon near the cross on Mt. Soledad and travel to San Diego Harley for a BBQ (5600 Kearny Mesa Rd., 92111.) The ride will start at 1:00 pm.  Ride organizers are expecting hundreds of participants including Carol’s mother and sister.  Interviews will be granted at the BBQ at approximately 1:30 pm. 

On May 7, 2009, officers found the deceased bodies of Carol and Barry Sandberg inside their home in the community of Bay Park, San Diego, CA. Carol and Barry were both victims of homicide. During the murder, Barry’s Harley Davidson was taken from the home and has not been found.

A reward of up to $51,000 is available for information leading to an arrest in this case. Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward and the Governor’s office is offering up to a $50,000 reward.

Unidentified Suspect Wanted for Identity Theft/Clear Picture

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Identity Theft Unit are asking for assistance from the public to help identify and locate an unknown suspect wanted for identity theft.

 

Detectives said in January and February 2012, an unknown male suspect made four separate fraudulent cash withdrawals from two different victim’s bank accounts.

All four withdrawals occurred at four different Chase banks:

 

  • 1/6/2012 Chase Bank 5825 Balboa Ave., San Diego
  • 1/7/2012 Chase Bank 4543 Campus Dr., Irvine
  • 2/23/2012 Chase Bank 4415 Imperial Ave., San Diego
  • 2/24/2012 Chase Bank 3747 S. La Brea Ave., Los Angeles

STILL WANTED: Man commits lewd act in front of children

OCEANSIDE — Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man suspected of committing a lewd act in public near children last month.

The man was seen standing near a staircase of the Avalon Apartments on Isthmus Way about 5:50 p.m. on April 4 committing a lewd act while looking at kids playing across the street, Oceanside police Lt. Leonard Mata said.

Officers were called to the scene but the man had already left.

A witness took a video of the incident, and police on Thursday released still images of the suspect in hopes someone from the public will recognize him.

Committing a lewd act in public is a misdemeanor offense, although police are especially concerned due to the potential for the behavior to escalate.

Cold Case: Nikki Alexandra Benedict Murder/45 Years Unsolved

On May 1, 1967, at about 6:45 pm, 14-year-old Nikki Alexandra Benedict was found stabbed to death in a field across from 12784 Poway Road. Homicide investigators believe she was attacked near an access road located 75 yards West of where she was initially found. The case remains unsolved.
