The FBI and Oceanside Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the unknown male who robbed the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 2701 Vista Way, Oceanside, California, on Monday, February 4, 2013.

On Monday, February 4, 2013, at approximately 5:08 p.m. the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 2701 Vista Way, Oceanside, California was robbed by an unknown male. The robber walked into the bank and waited in line until summoned by a teller. The robber walked up to the teller counter and verbally demanded money from the teller. The robber made the same demand from two other tellers.

After receiving money from all three tellers, the robber walked out the bank. The robber was last seen entering the passenger side door of a silver or light gold colored, four door sedan. No injuries were reported and no weapon observed.

The FBI and San Diego Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the unknown male who robbed the Wells Fargo located at 1302 Garnett Avenue, San Diego, California, on Monday, February 4, 2013.

On Monday, February 4, 2013, at approximately 1:44 p.m. the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 1302 Garnett Avenue, San Diego, California was robbed by an unknown male using a demand note. At the time of the robbery, the robber walked into the bank and entered the teller waiting line. The robber waited in line until summoned to the teller’s station. Once at the teller’s station, the robber passed a demand note and indicated that he was armed with a gun and explosives.

After receiving a sum of money, the robber walked out the of the bank. No injuries were reported and no weapon observed.

The FBI and Chula Vista Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the unknown male who robbed the Union Bank, 410 H Street, Chula Vista, California, on Friday, January 25, 2013 at approximately 3:15 p.m.

On Friday, January 25, 2013, at approximately 3:15 p.m. the Union Bank, located at 410 H Street, Chula Vista, California was robbed by an unknown male using a demand note. At the time of the robbery, the robber walked into the bank and entered the teller waiting line. The robber waited in line until summoned to the teller’s station. Once at the teller’s station, the robber passed a demand note and made a verbal demand for money. The robber kept his right hand inside of his jacket and simulated having a weapon in his pocket. The FBI and San Diego Sheriff’s Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the unknown male who tried to rob the US Bank, 12265 Scripps Poway Parkway, Suite 107, San Diego, California, on Friday, January 11, 2013.

On Friday, January 11, 2013, at approximately 3:00 p.m. the US Bank, located at 12265 Scripps Poway Parkway, San Diego, California, was the scene of an attempted bank robbery. At the time of the attempted robbery, the unknown male approached an employee sitting at a desk and presented a demand note for cash. The employee advised the suspect that they did not have access to any cash at which time the robber turned around and walked out of the bank.

The FBI and San Diego Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the unknown male responsible for robbing the Chase Bank, located at 10505 Tierrasanta Boulevard, San Diego, California, on Thursday, January 10, 2013.

On Thursday, January 10, 2013, at approximately 1:36 p.m., the Chase Bank located at 10505 Tierrasanta Boulevard, San Diego, California, was robbed by an unknown male using a demand note. No injuries were reported and no weapon was observed during the robbery. The robber was last seen eastbound on Tierrasanta Boulevard.

The robber was described as a Black male, 25 to 30 years old, approximately 5’10” tall, skinny build, wearing a red billed Detroit Red Wing baseball cap, a gray hooded sweatshirt and jeans. The robber was carrying a dark colored backpack.

At the time of the robbery, the robber approached the victim teller and told the teller that he was there to rob the teller. The robber ordered the teller to place his/her hands in the air and demanded money. The robber feigned to have a weapon in his jacket pocket. After receiving a sum of money the robber walked out of the bank. The robber was last seen entering the driver side of a white 1990’s Toyota extended cab pick-up truck. No injuries were reported and no weapon observed during the robbery.

male. At the time of the robbery, the robber approached the victim teller who had just finished helping another customer. The robber held a demand note in one hand and a bag in the other hand. After reading the note, the victim teller placed a sum of money in the bag. After receiving a sum of money, the robber quickly exited the bank with some of the money spilling out of the bag. The robber was last seen entering the passenger side of a vehicle that was parked a short distance away from the bank. No injuries were reported and no weapon observed.

The FBI and San Diego Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the unknown man responsible for robbing the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 7875 Highlands Village Place (Torrey Highlands), San Diego, California, on Tuesday, December 18, 2012.

On Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at approximately 1:25 p.m., the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 7875 Highlands Village Place, San Diego, California, was robbed by an unknown man using a demand note. The unknown male, hereinafter referred to as the robber, also threatened to have a weapon. After receiving a sum of money, the robber walked out of the bank. Once outside of the bank a witness observed an individual matching the robber’s description running towards a Gray Dodge Charger, and yelling at the driver to “go.” The vehicle was described as a newer Dodge Charger with paper plates. No injuries were reported. It is possible the robber wore make-up to conceal his identity.

FBI and San Diego Sheriff’s Department Seek Public’s Assistance to Identify Chase Bank Robber

On Saturday, November 17, 2012, at approximately 1:15 p.m., an unknown male armed with a suspicious device robbed the Chase Bank, located at 1122 Palm Avenue, Imperial Beach, California.

At the time of the robbery, the robber entered the bank and approached the victim teller’s station. The robber was carrying a red Verizon shopping bag from which he pulled out a small gray box with wires attached to the box. The robber made several statements to the teller and demanded cash. The teller provided a sum of money to the robber who walked away and left the suspicious device on the teller counter.

The San Diego Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson Unit responded to the bank and rendered the device safe. The device was determined not to contain any explosive material. No injuries were reported.

The FBI and San Diego Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the unknown male responsible for robbing the Union Bank branch located at 2927 University Avenue, San Diego, California, on Tuesday, November 6, 2012.

On Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at approximately 4:07 p.m. the Union Bank located at 2927 University Avenue, San Diego, California, was robbed by an unknown male, using what has been described as a kitchen knife. At the time of the robbery, the robber approached the victim teller and then jumped over the teller counter and grabbed a sum of money near a cash dispensing machine. The robber then jumped back over the counter and chased bank employees around the lobby area with the knife. The robber subsequently ran out of the bank, dropping some of the money he previously grabbed. Throughout the robbery, the robber brandished the knife and threatened employees.

The FBI and Carlsbad Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the masked armed unknown man responsible for robbing the US Bank, 7730 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, California, on Wednesday, September 26, 2012.

On Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the US Bank, located at 7730 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, California, was robbed by an armed unknown male. At the time of the robbery, the robber entered the bank and ordered everyone to get down on the floor. After taking money from one of the teller cash drawers, the robber walked out of the bank in an unknown direction.

Man believed responsible for three bank robberies in one day

The FBI and San Diego Sheriff’s Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the unknown man believed responsible for robbing three banks in one day.

The suspect is believed responsible for robbing the following banks on Friday, June 15, 2012, using a demand note in each robbery.

(1) Chase Bank, 12380 Poway Road, Poway, California, at approximately 9:32 a.m.
(2) US Bank, 245 Vista Village Drive, Vista, California, at approximately 1:31 p.m.
(3) US Bank, 13395 Poway Road, Poway, California, at approximately 3:05 p.m.

During the robbery of the Chase Bank, 12380 Poway, Road, Poway, California, the robber approached the teller and presented a demand note, followed by a verbal demand for money. The suspect indicated that he was armed. The teller complied with the robber’s demand and provided him with a sum of money. After receiving the money, the robber walked out of the bank and was last seen fleeing the area in a dark colored sedan. The robber was described as a white male, approximately 60 years old, approximately 5’9” tall, white scruffy beard, blue baseball cap and blue windbreaker. The baseball cap had the letter “C” on the front similar to a Chicago Cubs logo.

During the robbery of the US Bank, 245 Vista Village Drive, Vista, California, the robber presented a demand note and threatened to be armed with a weapon. The robber received a sum of money from the teller and exited the bank. The robber was described as a white male, approximately 5’9” tall, average build, scruffy beard, blue baseball cap, blue windbreaker, and wore glasses. No weapon was observed and no injuries reported.

During the robbery of the US Bank, 13395 Poway Road, Poway, California, the robber presented a demand note to a teller. After receiving a sum of money from the teller, the teller exited the bank. No weapon was observed and no injuries reported.

On Saturday, May 19 2012, at approximately 12:12 p.m., the Chase Bank located at 615 College Boulevard, Oceanside, California, was the scene of an attempted robbery by an unknown male. At the time of the attempted robbery, the robber approached the victim teller and passed the teller a demand note under the bandit barriers. The teller immediately closed and locked her drawer and stepped away from the counter. The teller reported the incident to bank management. Approximately 30 seconds later, the robber turned around and walked out of the bank without any money. No weapon was observed and no injuries reported.

Prior to the robbery, a witness observed the robber exit a late model, burgundy colored, four door sedan, driven by a white female adult with brown curly hair.

On Monday, June 4, 2012, at approximately 10:25 a.m., a Bank of America branch located inside of an Albertsons grocery store at 543 Sweetwater Road, Spring Valley, California, was robbed by an unknown male. At the time of the robbery, the robber approached the victim teller and handed her a demand note that was inside of a clear laminated folder with blue trim. The note threatened to shoot the teller if she did not provide him with money. The robber also gestured towards his waistband simulating that he was armed with a weapon. The robber carried a plastic cup with a clear liquid in his left hand that he sipped from during the robbery. After receiving a sum of money the robber walked out of the grocery store. No weapon was observed and no injuries reported.

Reward of $20,000 Offered in “Geezer Bandit” Investigation

The “Geezer Bandit” should be considered armed and dangerous.


The San Diego and Los Angeles FBI Offices, San Diego Police Department, San Diego Sheriff’s Department, San Luis Obispo Police Department, and several other local law enforcement agencies are seeking the public’s assistance to identify and arrest the individual dubbed the “Geezer Bandit.”

The “Geezer Bandit” is believed to be responsible for 16 bank robberies dating back to August 28, 2009. The first robbery in this series was in Santee, California (San Diego County) and the latest on Friday, December 2, 2011, in San Luis Obispo, California.  Eleven of the 16 robberies in the “Geezer Bandit” series have occurred in San Diego County with the most recent San Diego robbery on Friday, September 30, 2011.

On Friday, December 2, 2011, at approximately 5:39 p.m., the Bank of America, located at 1105 Higuera St., San Luis Obispo, California, was robbed by an unknown male believed to be the “Geezer Bandit.”

During this robbery, the robber approached the victim teller carrying what has been described as a day planner.  The day planner was tucked beneath his right arm.  The robber held documents in his hand that made it appear that he was there to conduct a legitimate banking transaction.  Once the robber reached the teller counter, he placed the day planner on the teller counter.  He passed a demand note and made a verbal demand for cash.  At the same time the robber opened the day planner and pulled out a revolver handgun and white plastic bag.  The robber pointed the revolver at the teller and threatened to shoot her, if she did not comply with his demands.  The teller complied with his demands and provided money that was placed into the white plastic bag.  The plastic bag and revolver were placed inside of the day planner.

After exiting the bank, a security dye-pack received by the robber exploded, causing the robber to drop the day planner.  Smoke and red dye from the dye-pack covered the robber and money.  Surveillance video shows the robber drop to his knees in an attempt to gather some of the money and his belongings.  After gathering what he could, the robber sprinted away across the bank parking lot.  Witnesses reported seeing a white BMW possibly a 5 series flee the area of the bank robbery.  It is not known if this vehicle is connected to the robbery.

During this robbery, the robber was wearing a white shirt with a black necktie, black pants, glasses, and a blue baseball cap. The robber was described as someone who appeared to be an elderly white male, but may have been wearing a synthetic-like mask and gloves to conceal his true physical characteristics.

Evidence collected at the scene is being processed by the FBI Laboratory at Quantico, Virginia.

Miscellaneous:  Possibly wearing a synthetic mask and gloves to hide true physical                            characteristics
