As Morgado was leaving, two young gang members (pee-wees) were standing in the street.  They called out to him, “East Side Rascals.” Morgado turned and faced them and said, “What?”  One said “This is what’s up!” and started shooting at Morgado. As a result of the shooting Morgado was wounded, and survived; but Ceballos died of his wounds.  Morgado was interviewed in the hospital and provided descriptions of the two suspects.

Suspect #1 was the shooter.  He is a Hispanic male with slicked back, collar-length hair.  He had a short mustache and a short beard on the tip of his chin. He was about 5’8” tall, weighing about 135 pounds.  He wore a black, long-sleeved sweater with two gray stripes across both sleeves as well as the chest area. He had on black “Dickie” type pants, which were clean, creased and baggie. He was about 15 to 16 years old.   He was wearing Chuck Taylor Converse brand sneakers.

Suspect #2 is either a black male or a dark complected Puerto Rican male, 15 to 18 years of age. He had very short hair, approximately 5’10”, about 180 pounds. He was wearing gray pants and a black sweater. He was also wearing Chuck Taylor Converse sneakers.   Morgado said that this suspect didn’t say anything; just stood next to the shooter during the confrontation.

On January 25, 2011, at 10:49 p.m., officers responded to a report of gunshots heard in the area of 4700 Logan Avenue.  Subsequent callers reported a male had been shot at that location.  Officers and paramedics arrived and found the victim on the ground, along the north sidewalk of the street, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.   Paramedics transported the victim, who was later identified as 26-year-old Timothy Bowden, to a trauma center where he later died.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that Timothy was walking back to a friend’s apartment, after going to a grocery store, when he was shot.  The motive for the shooting is not known, nor is there any suspect information to share at this time.

Hit and Run Suspect Omar Juarez

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the California Highway Patrol are asking for assistance from the public to help locate a suspect wanted for a fatal hit and run.  

Investigators said back on August 25, 2009, at approximately 6:40 a.m., the victim, 64-year-old Gregoria Valencia, was temporarily stopped on the right shoulder of eastbound SR-94 west of 30^th Street; Valencia had pulled his vehicle over to clean the front windshield. As Valencia stood near the rear of his vehicle, a second vehicle driven by Omar Juarez veered onto the shoulder and struck Valencia. Juarez’s vehicle then struck the side of Valencia’s vehicle and came to rest in front of it.  Juarez immediately fled the scene on foot, leaving the vehicle he was driving and Valencia behind.  Valencia died as a result of his injuries.  Valencia had an adult male passenger who remained in the vehicle but was ejected during the accident. The passenger has recovered from his injuries.

The vehicle driven by Juarez was legally registered to his brother. After contacting the brother, it was determined that Juarez had borrowed the vehicle from his brother to go to work.  Juarez was living in the 2700 block of C Street with family but has not been seen since the accident.  Juarez is a citizen of Tijuana, Mexico and has family currently living in both San Diego and Tijuana.

Suspect Description: Hispanic male, 29 years old, 5’8” tall, approximately 170 Lbs., black hair and brown eyes.

On January 23, 2009 Mimi Rohwer was found strangled in her San Marcos mobile home.

Her roommate Julio Cesar Jacobo-Curiel is a suspect in the case. He was last seen leaving the Casitas del Sol mobile home park on Barham Drive. Jacobo-Curiel is a 57-year-old hispanic male, 5’4″, 175 lbs.

Reward of up to $1,000

On January 19, 2007, at about 6:30 p.m., 16-year-old Romel Velarde was shot and killed in front of his house. Velarde was standing in his driveway located in the 2300 block of East Division Street in National City. Two unidentified males were seen running from the area.

A brown van or sports utility vehicle was seen driving away from the area immediately after the murder.

San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Central Division are asking for assistance from the public to help identify and locate an unknown suspect wanted for assault with a deadly weapon (stabbing.)  

Detectives said on January 1, 2012, approximately fifteen minutes after midnight, the 28 year-old male victim was celebrating new years eve at a bar inside the W Hotel on 421 West B Street in Downtown San Diego. The victim reported the bar was very crowded and there was some shoving and pushing at the bar.  At some point during the shoving and pushing, an unknown suspect stabbed the victim for no known reason.  Immediately after being stabbed, the victim saw the suspect walking away.  The suspect was described as an adult White male, mid-20’s, approximately 5’10” tall, short blonde hair, wearing a black collared shirt.  The suspect was with 2-3 other white males.  The victim immediately got in a cab parked at the curb and went directly to the hospital.  The suspect suffered a collapsed lung and a punctured spleen.  The victim has been released from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries.

Just prior to the stabbing, the victim was talking to a possible witness to the stabbing.  The witness is a White female, 29 years-old, about 5’3” tall, wearing a sparkly dress and possibly named Sarah. The witness stated she was a law school grad who attended Cal Poly University.  Detectives would like Sarah to call Detective Frank Bradley at 619-744-9500.
