City of Carlsbad Offers “The Parent Project” Parenting Course

Police offer classes for parents with difficult teens

CARLSBAD, CA – City of Carlsbad Police Department will be offering a series of classes in Spanish for parents called “The Parent Project” or “El Proyecto de Padres.”

“The Parent Project” is an award winning, activity based parenting course that supports parents through the challenging adolescent years.

According to GUIDE Program Administrator Penny Velazquez, “Parents of strong-willing and out-of-control teens have found this program to be very helpful.”

Classes will be 9 consecutive Tuesday nights from 6 to 9 p.m., starting on April 17.  The classes will be held at Jefferson Elementary School, 3743 Jefferson Street.  The classes are open to all parents, not just City of Carlsbad residents. The fee for course materials is $25 per individual or $35 per couple. There is no cost for active duty military families. To register for the classes or for more information, contact program instructor Jovita Barria at 760-434-9099.
