From UT San Diego:
OCEANSIDE — Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man suspected of committing a lewd act in public near children last month.
This unidentified man is suspected of committing a lewd act near children in Oceanside.
The man was seen standing near a staircase of the Avalon Apartments on Isthmus Way about 5:50 p.m. on April 4 committing a lewd act while looking at kids playing across the street, Oceanside police Lt. Leonard Mata said.
Officers were called to the scene but the man had already left.
A witness took a video of the incident, and police on Thursday released still images of the suspect in hopes someone from the public will recognize him.
Committing a lewd act in public is a misdemeanor offense, although police are especially concerned due to the potential for the behavior to escalate.
Anyone with information on the case or the man can call police at (760) 435-4911 or Detective Steve Tiplitsy at (760) 435-4887. Callers can remain anonymous.
