San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the Escondido Police Department are asking for assistance from the public to help identify and locate a suspect and suspect vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run.
Investigators said on Sunday morning, July 29, 2012, at about 1:30 a.m., a pedestrian was crossing Lincoln Avenue near Beech Street in Escondido. The pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle that had been travelling West on Lincoln. The vehicle and its driver fled the scene without stopping.
Originally the Escondido Police Department believed the vehicle involved was a white SUV or a grey truck with a camper. The investigation has revealed that the vehicle is a Toyota 4Runner, possibly between 1991 to 1995 models. The vehicle has a chrome strip around the wheel wells. There is no suspect information at this time.
